Organic Dahlias - Community Supported Agriculture

Pictured here are individual dahlias and floral arrangements created during 2008 and 2009 seasons. The flowers you see were grown in a garden plot in Fairfield, Iowa. Wildflowers, ferns and grasses were used to fill in the arrangements. These dahlias were grown organically — without pesticides, herbicides, fumigants or synthetic fertilizers.

UPDATE JULY 2010 .... NO CSAs THIS YEAR
We won't be offering CSA plans this year. In addition, our visits to the Fairfield Farmer's Markets will be infrequent.

We will, however, be selling floral arrangements and loose flower collections by special order beginning in August, and continuing, as usual until roughly mid-October. As always, our flower baskets are fresh and farm direct ... cut, arranged and delivered to your door on the same day. Here's our tentative price schedule:

Basket arrangement: $60 (add $5 for in-town delivery)
Cut flower collection: $35 (approximately 15 to 20 dahlias)

We are planning to put about 250 dahlias in the ground for the 2010 season in our new location on B Street, east of the MUM campus. However, as of this writing (20 April) I'm still undecided about whether to offer the CSA program again. I'm primarily wanting to preserve my planting stock, and considering where to go from there.
