Directions ...............................

=> Go to the corner of 5th and Burlington in Fairfield
=> Head north on 5th (towards the railroad tracks)
=> We are the second house on the left. An old red Toyota pickup is parked in front. The number is 52.
=> We are across the street from McBeth salvage. Please do not park in their lot. Pull into the driveway that is just south of my house; that is, on the Burlington Ave. side of the house.
=> Knock at the door on the right -- the first floor flat.

Note for folks stumbling on this website from out of town: Dahlia flowers do not ship well. It's not impossible
to ship them, but they require special handling and packing, and it runs into money. If you can
tolerate non-organic cut dahlias, you might try Swan Island.

All the best

Have you planted your dahlias yet ? Now is the time!

Not enough space? I'm squeezing 23 dahlias into a 6x13' raised bed over a gravel driveway.
Ideally they should be spaced twice as far, but you make do with what you have. Be sure to choose a sunny spot with good drainage. My bed is filled with mostly compost (leaves, grass clippings, kitchen scraps.) The green plants in back are flowering native perennials: willow-leaf sunflower, culver's root, prairie ironweed, aster, sweet black-eyed-susan, blue sage.
